Mountainbike tour to Nagy-Hideg-hegy mountain
The Nagy-Hideg-hegy mountain in the Börzöny hills is 864 m high. From the grass plains on the top you can enjoy a beautiful view of the southern part of the Börzöny hills and the Visegrád hills. The highest peak of the mountain range, the 938 m high Csóványos is at the brink of the ancient caldera of a volcano from the miocene which can be reached in around 45 minutes via a spectacular pathway.
The Hideg-hegy mountain is not only a popular spot for hikers, it is also a ski centre. Sometimes you can ski on its norther slopes even in April! The ski-resort has state-of-the-art , brand-new infrastructure.
You can find a tourist house on the hill built in the 1930s which has been renovated completely in 2006. Today it is a popular not only for excursions but also for mountainbikers too. It is easy to find it via forest pathways and pebbled roads as well, while reaching it you can have a nice jug of refreshing beer and some good old Hungarian delicacies to enjoy the view of the Börzöny hills and the Danube bend.
